She was born in Geneva in 1966, and educated at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris. Three years she worked for the newspaper “La Suisse”, in 1993 she left for Moscow working as a freelance journalist there. In December 1994 and January 1995 she made several reports from and about Chechnya that were published in many newspapers in Switzerland. In 1995 she reported from China, Taiwan and Philippines. Since September 1996 she has worked for the international section of the newspaper “L´Hebdo” making reports from the whole world. In May 2000 Béatrice Guelpa was awarded the Prix Dumur Prize.
